SUV的全稱是Sport Utility Vehicle,即“運(yùn)動型多用途車”,20世紀(jì)80年代起源于美國,是為迎合年輕白領(lǐng)階層的愛好而在皮卡底盤上發(fā)展起來的一種廂體車。離地間隙較大,在一定的程度上既有轎車的舒適性又有越野車的越野性能。
SUV是在皮卡底盤技術(shù)上開發(fā)設(shè)計,越野性好、舒適性較差,比如國內(nèi)的中低端皮卡。特例是長城哈弗CUV,它雖然號稱CUV,卻并沒有采用轎車化底盤,而是改用了梯形工字梁非承載式車身,更傾向于SUV。
